Problem: What are the main causes of death over the last 200 years.
1. Click here to open the excel document with all of the cemetery data from BASTROP, ELGIN & AUSTIN.
2. Your table group will be given a range of dates.
3. You must find the year(s) with the largest number of deaths in your range.
4. Once you have found that year you must research the following things to find correlations between deaths and war/disease/disaster.
5. 1 person research Texas wars
1 person research diseases in Texas
1 person research any natural disasters that might have occurred near Bastrop (floods, fires)
1 person research man-made disaster that might have occurred (explosions, car wrecks, etc)
6. Each person must write a one paragraph conclusion that answers the problem question above.
Your paragraph must have at least 6 complete sentences. Your paragraph must include the following stem: I conclude that the deaths in the year ____ were caused by _____.
7. Turn paper into the class box.

Cemetery Graph

You will work with a partner to create a graph of all the deaths for a certain range of years.
1. Turn your graph paper sideways (landscape).
2. USE A PENCIL
3. Title the graph Texas State Cemetery Deaths
4. Label the x-axis Years
5. Label the y-axis Number of Deaths
6. Create a BAR GRAPH
7. Use colored pencils / markers to color your graph.
8. Put all names at the top of the graph.
9. Tape your graph to the colored paper.

Star Model Directions
Research the following info about your star:
Color
Temperature (K)
Distance from Earth in light years
Size (mass or radius)
Class (supergiant, etc)
Constellation your star is located
Brightness (magnitude)
Put the name in large lettering on both sides of plate.
Write the info above on front only
color both sides the color of your star
Cut the edges into a pointy star shape
Put your name on one side of star

Crease black paper in hamburger fold. Cut 2 slits on front flap. Use a white pencil.

2. Name the 3 main types of galaxies (omit barred spiral)
B. Put this info inside: 1. Draw a picture of each of the 3 galaxies.
2. Write 3 characteristics of each galaxy.

On Page 28: WRITE A COMPLETE SENTENCE OR DRAW A PICTURE for each word. You can do any combination that TOTALS 8. For example you could do 6 sentences and 2 pictures or 4 pictures and 4 definitions.

Simple Machine Assignments
1. Finish the 6 Frayer Models on simple machines from Tuesday. Make sure your name is on it & put it in the class box.
2. On page 8 of your ISN, copy the chart that is on the board. Then list the simple machines that you use throughout the day according to the chart.
3. Complete the Simple Machines card sort with a partner.
4. Click here, read information titled Who or What is Rube Goldberg and study the pictures. Look at all of the simple machines used in the Rube Goldberg cartoons. See how many simple machines you can identify.
Click here, read the steps of the Rube Goldberg in the first cartoon to remind a person to get a haircut. Study all of the steps while following them through the cartoon.
